Victory in Cumbria

The text is mainly devoted to celebrating a big success in Cumbria. As usual there are some good pictures form in and around King’s Lynn.

What is this victory in Cumbria that I have used as the title for the post? Well, this body text should make all clear:

“19 Jan 2015 — FANTASTIC NEWS!! We had the meeting this morning and we got the yes we’ve been fighting for! Mike can now stay in the best home for him, in his local community and a street away from my mum! This has been a hard fight so thank you so very very much, without you we couldn’t have done it!! My brother deserves the best which is what we have got. Thankyou so much! xxxx”

My involvement in this was courtesy of an online petition circulated via change.org. For more details please click the following link: https://www.change.org/p/national-health-service-cumbria-give-mike-a-chance-to-live-in-a-home-near-his-family-in-wigton-cumbria I have already shared this FANTASTIC news with my twitter followers on @aspitweets

If you read this, you will see that although this was a small, local campaign, it was of great importance, and as such the victory is worth celebrating.

It was cold today, to the extent that I have some shots of gulls walking on water…

A classic FA Cup match and Some Other Stuff.

Last night’s FA Cup 3rd round match between AFC Wimbledon and Liverpool was thoroughly enjoyable. Although two goals from Steven Gerrard were enough to prevent what would have been an almighty upset, there were moments in the match when memories strayed back to 1988.

The BBC’s Assistant Political Editor, Norman Smith suffered yesterday for parroting the Tory line, a hecklers shout of “Get back to London” being one of the politer comments. The full story can be read at: http://voxpoliticalonline.com/2015/01/06/pillock-bbc-reporters-duff-nhs-question-makes-milibands-day/

One of the pictures I tweeted yesterday on @aspitweets was of one of the new buildings at Hillington Square, and I received a response from the official Hillington Square twitter account, @HillingtonSq thanking me for doing so.

A Bumpy Ride for the Tories!

Today is FA Cup third round day, but the own goal that dominates it has been scored by the Tories. Their first campaign poster of 2015 has backfired quite spectacularly with a variety of suitably altered versions appearing all over the internet.

I have a good one in my added media section courtesy of https://twitter.com/RantyHighwayman and also a good one from Sid (https://twitter.com/red13charlie)

Fortunately, living in King’s Lynn I have a very good candidate to vote for in this general election – Jo Rust (Labour).

I also have some of my own pictures, both from King’s Lynn today and from yesterday at work…

Winter Sun and the Lower Purfleet Freezes Over.

We are in a post Christmas cold snap. There has been nothing yet to approach the icebergs on the Great Ouse of half a century ago, but at 11:30AM today under a bright sun the lower Purfleet was frozen. Birds of various species have been enjoying the conditions in spite of the cold. “Cormorant Platform” where the Nar joins the Ouse had no fewer than nine visitors today.

I have two days worth of pics to share with you (got some good ones yesterday too)…

Christmas Meal and Continuing Twitter Success

Last night was the Christmas meal of the King’s Lynn Asperger Support Society, and an excellent time was had by all. We were delighted to welcome two new members to the group. Although the food was not by any stretch a triumph, the bill came to less than expected as £10 was knocked off it by way of acknowledging a particular fail with one of the main courses (a roastie that was still solid in the middle and in consequence the dish was sent back and replaced with something else.

Although I am still without my Nikon P520 Coolpix I did get some interesting pictures during the day yesterday with my other camera.

My personal twitter account, @aspitweets continues to go from strength to strength, now having 637 followers.

Now some photos…

Auction and More

Saturday was almost entirely taken up with the November auction of James and Sons, which went very well. Those of you who follow @aspitweets on twitter will have seen a few highlights (a very few – not easy to live tweet when you are also recording details of the sale on the company database).

Yesterday was bright and sunny, so I enjoyed a morning walk before heading to my aunts house for Sunday lunch. This yielded some interesting photos…

Out and About in King’s Lynn

King’s Lynn is benefiting from some pleasant weather today, and it is not just the human residents who have been enjoying it – a huge range of birds, some of which I captured in spite of still being restricted to my old Samsung. My twitter account continues to gain new followers.

Anyway now for some pictures…

Sunday Pics

Having dealt with BT I now return my usual blog posts, sharing today’s pictures, which include a glorious shot of remembrance day at King’s Lynn War Memorial…

It's a little blurry I know, but this view is one reason why I enjoy living where I do.

King’s Lynn Under Leaden Skies

The wind was sufficiently high for there to be waves on the Great Ouse, the sky at its best was leaden, and still I managed two walks around King’s Lynn today, one either side of lunch which was at the new Mediterrenean restaurant on King’s Lynn High Street. I have some good photos  for you (albeit still with my second best camera)…
