Preparing for one auction and imaging for another

A split day today, partly setting up tomorrow’s auction down at Fakenham Racecourse and partly imaging for the December auction back at the shop. A full catalogue for tomorrow’s auction can be viewed at http://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/james-and-son-auctioneers/catalogue-id-2901720, and if you cannot get to Fakenham tomorrow you can also register to bid online at www.the-saleroom.com.

My main imaging task today was producing pictures for the back cover of the next catalogue, some of the highlights being included below. I also imaged some postal history lots after this with what was left of the day.

Now for some pictures…

Preparing for auction and other stuff.

First of all, some good news from the wider world: Sheffield United finally made the right decision regarding Ched Evans – they ditched him.

Although I did some stuff on behalf of the Great Centenary Charity Auction including posting images on their facebook and twitter accounts, most of today was spent working on James and Sons upcoming auction (A week tomorrow at Fakenham Racecourse). The catalogue can be viewed at: : http://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/james-and-son-auctioneers/catalogue-id-2901720 while anyone who would like to bid online can do so at:

Imaging With Three Different Cameras

Two batteries going phut in quick succession, first on the old Nikon that is our official work camera, and then on the second camera I used immediately afterwards meant that with my Nikon Coolpix P520 still at the repair shop most of my imaging today was done on my old Samsung, which after almost 5 years and 16,000 photos is still working as well as ever. Finally I concluded a day devoted entirely to imaging by using the scanner for some small items. I have plenty of decent pictures, some of which I have already put on twitter

Auction Imaging and the Birdman of King’s Lynn

I have had a very hectic week imaging for James and Sons, but it is now nearly all done for this auction. On Wednesday evening I got several excellent shots of a hang-glider and I have various other pictures to share with you…

A productive day

Even though half of today was spent at Raynham Hall, I still got plenty done at James and Sons (and have some pictures of new donations to edit later). I should get some database time tomorrow, as well as on Thursday and Friday, which will get the stock database complete and (I hope) get me started on the auction side of things in advance of the sale. I then have Tuesday of next week to finish things off in terms of advance preparation.

The Great Centenary Charity Auction is starting to look reasonably healthy, and I will have some new material for social media before long.

As usual I have some pictures for you…

Full Steam Ahead for August Auction

I got to image some very quirky lots, including what we think is a Bar Billiards set, and one or two other very interesting items. I have also continued to make progress on the database front.

Here are some of the quirky things I imaged today…

A productive day at James and Sons

I have had a very productive day at James and Sons. I spent the morning imaging for our next auction and the afternoon working on the stock database for the same.

As a result of this work I have some good images to share with you, leavened with some not work related…

King’s Lynn on a Summer Sunday

I have some fine pictures from yesterday. As well as those included here, which are all things I saw in and around King’s Lynn, I did photograph some books while in East Rudham for Sunday lunch, but as I did not edit these images due to time constraints they do not feature.

While many of the objects featured here were very close to me, one was a quarter of a million miles away…

A busy day at James and Sons

I have just spent the entire day imaging at James and Sons, having attended to a large number of lots, including all the coins and all the stamps for the June auction. As a result I have a large number of quality images to share, to the extent that I am holding some of them over until tomorrow.

I have had confirmation that my new camera has arrived, and I will be picking it up from my aunt’s house this evening.

The day began with some very intriguing stuff – three large exhibiting boxes full of ribbons and rosettes, before moving to the slightly more workaday.

Don’t forget – if you are reading this and have not already done so please like http://www.facebook.com/GreatAuction and/ or follow http://www.twitter.com/great_auction.

A confusion over swords and more imaging

Today started with the discovery that the sword which will be a subject of press releases in the near future was not the one I imaged yesterday for the June sale, but one which I imaged today and which will be going under the hammer in the Great Centenary Auction on September 21st and Raynham Hall. There are signs that Archant having become a sponsor are really getting into gear, with an article, reproduced here, that appeared in yesterday’s Fakenham and Dereham Times. I have already as Great Auction publicly thanked both the publication and the journalist, Chris Hill. If you have not already liked http://www.fgacebook.com/GreatAuction and/or followed http://www.twitter.com/great_auction please do so.

Having taken many images of this old and very ornate sword, and kept those that were good enough to be usable I then finished the stamp imaging from yesterday and did most of the postal history, leaving fifteen lots of that, plus whatever new comes up for Tuesday.

As usual I have a highlights package of images from today for you….

Just to whet your appetite for later.
